In the past year, we have also donated time, resources, and money to organizations such as New England Disabled Sports, Pemi Search and Rescue, Lakes Region Search and Rescue, the Linwood Rotary, Linwood Ambulance, as well as local community centers in Lincoln, Franconia, and Lisbon, NH.

My favorite piece of clothing on the PCT, perfect combination of warmth and weight. I always washed my clothes at any chance I’d get and would just throw it in the washer and dryer on hot settings and always came out perfect. No fraying or pilling, just the Burgeon patch is starting to come off. I love having the zipper to regulate temperature.
I first found this brand in 2024 when I met a guy at Zealand Falls Hut wearing a Burgeon hoodie. Several months later I started getting targeted ads for Burgeon on my phones "Google Discover" page. I figured it was time to buy one for myself.
So, the Highlander. This hoodie has the perfect balance between lightweight, breathability and warmth. I've been wearing it a lot over the past month for daily walks and find it to be quite comfortable.
I chose it primarily for the full zip feature which I prefer over pullovers, and yes, for you zipper enthusiasts out there, this one uses a YKK zipper.
For hiking testing, I wore it on a 10.2 mile out and back hike to Thoreau Falls via Zealand Notch on a chilly mid October day that started out in the mid 30's and topped out at about 48. It kept me warm the entire time.
Durability seems to be good, It held up through a short bushwhack to Whitewall Brook to refill my water. At some point I managed to wear a small hole in the hood which was easily patched on the inside with some tenacious tape.
Overall I am very happy with the hoodie and would recommend it.
Love this fleece. This is my second one (the other is the AMC pull-over). I got the full zip one because it's easier to change into or out of on the trail in winter conditions.

Excellent garment — warm, full-zip, grid-fleece hoody at less than 10 oz. The fabric has give but isn't a stretchy weave so sizing up was good advice ... TY. I do wish it had elastic hems so I added KAM snaps to the cuffs and mini cord-locks and pulls to the draw strings on the hood. Size L is a good, regular fit for 5'10" at 175 lb.

When packing for the cloud peak wilderness I chose this piece last minute, I am so glad I did! I wore it almost every day for 7 days, it has been proven to be durable and a great layer. I have highlighter yellow and might be buying another to have a more “chill” color:-)
Great fabric and feel as always, but I bought the same product in the same size about 9 months ago and lost weight in the mean time, but the newer one I bought was too tight and short to wear after one wash.

The fit is athletic without being too tight, and the quality is top-notch, just what I’ve come to expect from Burgeon Outdoor. It layers perfectly under a shell or works great on its own for cool mornings and evenings. I’ve been wearing it nonstop since it arrived and couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended!

Great lightweight insulator under a shell or down. Feels a bit more breathable than my R1 but just as warm under an outer layer. Zipper seems solid so far. Fit is pretty good, not too tight, not too loose (6'0" 165lb wearing a size L), only complaint is fit below the armpit area is a little low, which restricts movement of my arms over me head, especially since there isn't much stretch to the fabric. Was intending to use this for climbing but will probably be better suited for hiking/snowshoeing/hunting.
Stumbled upon Burgeon through a hiking YouTube video. I saw the Highlander Hoodie sitting on the hikers bag and I knew right away I had to figure what he had.
Order an XL and it just hung on me. I'm about 5'9.5", 187lbs. Made a phone call to customer service and Nick took care of me without hesitation.

This hoodie is so comfortable, easy to wear, lightweight but warm in the cold and cool in the heat. This is the second one I’ve purchased, wanted to have a second one in case they went out of production.
It's really snuggly, fits great, and is a good in-between warmth for the shoulder season right now. Fantastic color too!
I brought the Highlander Full Zip Hoodie after reading about it on a blog. It is light and breathable which also means it gets cold in any slightly windy condition. It’s a decent mid layer with a wind jacket over it. It’s lighter than I expected which also means it has no structure. It just flops around on my body and I’m tugging on it constantly to keep it wearing properly. I’m 5’5” 145# with 40” chest so not tall. I always wear a medium with other outdoor clothing brands. But the Highlander is really long, the hem drapes past my crotch when properly fitted around my shoulders (remember the no structure?) and just looks weird on me. I think it’s made for guys who are at least 5’9”+. If you fit the profile of the customer they designed the hoodie for maybe you’ll find it a good item to own. I regret spending $100 on something I’m not likely to wear hardly at all.
Love how warm this hoodie is for being so lightweight and comfortable. The quality is top notch and everything is locally sourced. The staff in the store was friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great company that I will definitely buy from again.
I hike in Maine and New Hampshire. In addition to wanting to support a company that uses all USA materials and whose seamstresses you can see working right in the store, I know I can trust Burgeon's products. They're made right in the region I hike and backpack, so I know I can trust the products to meet my needs. Seasons are a little different in different regions, so with them right in NH I know it's what I'll need. The Highlander hoodie is one of the best pieces of gear I own--I went with the full zip to regulate body temperature and wear it pretty much every day at some point, whether outdoors being active or around the house. The handwritten note by Nick (who I've met in the Burgeon store in Lincoln) was top-notch.
I’ve been eyeballing this full zip hoodie for some time. I was looking for a lightweight, breathable full zip hoodie. I prefer full zip so I can really dump heat if needed. This thing is so comfy on the skin. It’s like wearing a Barefoot Dreams blanket. I’m normally an XL and went for the XL even though they say size up. It fits perfect. 6’2 215lbs. Two things I don’t love about it. I feel the zipper is to big/heavy based on how lightweight it is. I have other lightweight jackets that have the smaller zipper and you hardly know it’s there. This zipper feels over kill. It’s not huge but I think it could be smaller. The zipper also doesn’t have a garage at the top to slide into so it’s there and exposed at your chin. I haven’t worn it enough to see if it’s going to be bothersome. Secondly the sleeves are large and loose at the wrist. When my hands are by my side the sleeves hang about halfway down my hands. About mid palm. I wish there were a little elastic at the wrist or if it just tapered. It’s still hot here in AZ so I’ll hike with it more in a few months and give it a good test but these are just my first impressions.
The first piece of clothing from Burgeon that I am actually disappointed with (I own a few pieces that I'm super happy with!). The material feels thin/cheap. Not what I expected for the price.
My Burgeon Highlander Hoodie full zip has got to be the softest, most comfortable hoodie I have ever put on - bar none! I had been trying to make an appointment to purchase a Melanzana hoodie but then I find a review of Burgeon on the YouTube channel Roots and Peaks (if you have not seen, do your self a favor and check it out at https://youtu.be/arEDBenI7QY?feature=shared) and immediately placed my order. I was not disappointed and plan to now order one for my wife.
