This doesn't make sense!

This jacket is surprisingly warm for its weight and I ordered the lightest one of the series! I used this on a spring ski tour with temps in the 40s-50s and never needed a shell or additional layers. I'm excited to try it on a winter run and in really cold temps under a shell.

Wow--just first impressions but they are great

Alpha hoody showed up. I wondered what all the hype was about--"the one piece of gear to take on a through-hike," so I bought one. Now I see why. Light as a feather, well-made and impressive. Excited to wear it soon on a climb of Fansipan in Vietnam, and I will test it guiding a section of the John Muir Trail for my adventure travel business in September, among other trips. Great job Burgeon--cheering you on. CDR USN Retired/Adventure Travel business owner.

Unbelievable Game Changer

This has became my most beloved piece of gear this winter and early spring. I usually take on hard hikes that are shorter with a lot of elevation gain at the beginning of the hike. So after climbing 2000 or 3000 feet my base layer is soaking wet because I sweat a lot. Once I start going downhill from the summit or takeoff on the flat ridge line, I begin to cool off quickly and pretty soon I’m freezing. I have thrown on the Alpha 60 or Alpha 90 from Burgeon (depending on the temps that day) and have immediately become comfortable enough to keep going. Even though my base layer is still wet, the sweat begins to wick away from it and through the Alpha product like magic. If it is windy, I just throw on a windbreaker over top and I stay comfortable to keep going on. I did notice that with the three layers, the windbreaker became the wettest piece of clothing I had, which was good. The Alpha product does what it is supposed to do. I like the loose hood of the Burgeon. It allows for flow and is not restricting at all. The hoodie is light as a feather easily packable. If there is a possible chance of cold temps, Burgeon Alpha will be in my pack. I highly recommend buying Burgeon Alpha!!

Warm and Dry

I have been combining the Alpha Direct 60 with Brynje Mesh base layer under a medium weight soft-shell. For fat biking at around 20 degrees on a windy day this combination has been perfect as I stay warm and dry even though I usually run hot and sweaty. I am giving the Alpha Direct a 4 star as the material is a bit awkward but I suppose that is part of its design...

60 is perfect weight

I run hot so this is the perfect insulation for me… just wish it came in more than 2 colors!

Most Versatile Layer I own

I live in north GA near the start of the AT, which I overnight backpack frequently. Temp changes of 30-40 degrees are not uncommon at elevation. I own 2 Burgeon Alpha Direct hoodies: a 60 and a 90. In summer and shoulder season, I wear the 60. In winter it’s part of my sleep system and I wear the 90. I’m 6’3”, 210 lbs muscular build and the XL fits perfectly. Both are super light, easily packable, and very comfortable. Side note: my wife likes me to wear the navy one with jeans when we go for wings and a cold one.

Unbelievably Warm Yet Lightweight

I have used this for hiking and skiing in frigid temps and I’m amazed at how something so thin and lightweight can be so warm. I wear a thin base layer and then the Alpha with a shel and I’m comfortable. I made the mistake of putting the Highlander Hoodie over it and had to take that off 2 runs in. I love the Alpha 60!

Super Lightweight Hoodie!

This is their lightest one. The fit is true-to-size. Very lightweight and compactibel, perfect for the bike packing it is intended to be used for. I was afraid it might be too thin, so I ordered the Alpha Direct 90 Hoodie to compare. Well, I ended up keeping both because these two will provide for a huge variety of temperatures, particularly if paired with a shell for layering purposes.
