Alpha hoody showed up. I wondered what all the hype was about--"the one piece of gear to take on a through-hike," so I bought one. Now I see why. Light as a feather, well-made and impressive. Excited to wear it soon on a climb of Fansipan in Vietnam, and I will test it guiding a section of the John Muir Trail for my adventure travel business in September, among other trips. I decided to try the Alpha Direct 90 Quarter Zip, as a lighter weight, more packable and generally more comfortable alternative to my Patagonia R1 pullover. It has checked all the boxes. I am very satisfied.
Just wore this on a bike packing ride across Washington, Idaho, Montana then through Wyoming and Yellowstone back to Montana. It was hands down most used piece of clothing. From snow wind rain and sun this was the perfect mid layer , it’s even the pillow case in the tent , truly kept me warm, breath’s incredible and drys faster than any fabric I’ve ever used. It’s truly the best mid layer ever.

5’9” 168 Size Large. Perfect fit. Just loose enough to be a mid layer, but also function as a base layer. Very high quality workmanship, and the comfort is out of this world. Honestly, a great year round piece, it will be my go-to sleeping gear for winter camping! If you don’t own one, get one. If you do own one, get another! I sure am!
Layer is light but warm and definitely breathes. I’d say sizing is slightly smaller but mine fits well but size up if on the edge
I got this for a week hiking trip in Colorado. It was great both on the warmer days and the cold snowy days. Very happy! I plan on buying another one or two in different colors before my next trip.
This is my favorite item n my wardrobe. I wear it almost daily! I was introduced to Alpha Direct 90 Hoodie when I stole my husband's on the Foothills Trail. I wore it 7 days straight and no smell! :-) Dries very well and keeps me warm. I suggest 90 versus 120 if you’re in weather not colder than 30 degrees. Perfect!
Well made and super comfortable bit of kit that does a great job regulating temperature. Intended for bikepacking but I can’t take it off in the house. Love it, and I’ve yet to use it outside. The XL is sized nicely for me.
