I have not had this hoodie out in the backcountry yet, but I've tested it by wearing it between a lightweight shell and base layer for ruck walks around town in 10 degree temperatures with high winds. The material performed exactly as advertised. I felt like I was at the perfect temperature the whole time, every time - not warm or cold, just right. I am 6'4" and 215 lbs, with a 46" chest. Burgeon's customer service recommended I size up to the XXL in the unisex sizing and that was the right call.
Got a men’s L Alpha Direct 90 in cranberry. Love the color and size and weight - fits like a roomy tunic on me, which I love. (5’6” 145 lb woman). I wear it a lot in daily life over a thin baselayer - haven’t used in the wilderness yet. Tried the men’s M Alpha Direct 120 in the green. Loved the color but not as stretchy and a bit too warm for me. Just ordered another 90 in black!
Love this shirt. I wear it on my hikes and around the house. Super comfortable. Love all of the products!
My favorite piece of clothing on the PCT, perfect combination of warmth and weight. I always washed my clothes at any chance I’d get and would just throw it in the washer and dryer on hot settings and always came out perfect. No fraying or pilling, just the Burgeon patch is starting to come off. I love having the zipper to regulate temperature.
Very happy with the Bond vest — it’s exactly what I wanted and needed. Comfortable, great fit, and perfect for layering. Nick was incredibly helpful and gave me all the info I needed to pick the right one. I’ve got a few other pieces from Burgeon and they’re in constant rotation, so not a surprise this one’s a winner too.
Very pleased with the material and size
This shirt is so comfortable! I often have trouble with shirts being long enough on my arms and this shirt fits perfect! It is not only comfortable but also very cute!! LOVE it!!!
Exceptional warmth in a very light fleece. It has been perfect for hiking in the cooler Fall temps. Word of caution, it’s unisex sizing. Size small is very big on me but I’m making it work. ( I’m a womens XS in reality ). The orange color has been perfect for hunting season.

Perfect layer for a brisk fall day camping. Kept me warm making my first cup of coffee, kept me toasty several miles into my hike when I finally shed it, and was perfect for the evening around the campfire.
Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie - Unisex
Great purchase!!! Perfect lightweight layer for backpacking. I underestimated how much I would loge this hoodie. User it most to throw on a layer whne stopping for lunch or summit sitting to keep the chill away.
Soft against the skin with a comfortable fit both a base layer or a top later.
This is a must if you want a quality, multi use hoody for active layering. Layered it under a sun hoody for a treck to the summit of San Jacinto on 10/15. Was perfect in the 40's all day. Recommend sizing up. I wear M, but ordered L and fit is perfect for me. 5'10'' 155 lbs.
I visited the burgeon store in Lincoln a few weeks ago and purchased this hoodie in black as well as a microgrid fleece. My fiancé also bought a microgrid fleece. This is my first alpha direct fabric purchase so I was absolutely pumped!!!! The same day I bought it, I packed it in my trail running pack and set out to do Wiley mountain (Franconia Ridge State park) at sunset. As I reached higher elevations I found myself getting cold after sweating/running the ascent (yes I did the stairs/ladders AT route), it was 30s-40s at the summit without wind. Immediately put on a thin smartwool hoodie with the alpha direct over it - WOW I felt like I just put on a 800 fill down jacket. I got so hot on the descent I had to take it off. Never underestimate the power of this fabric!!! While I wish it wasn't made with polyester or fragile fibers, I would buy it again. Now my real question is can someone make an alpha fabric with merino or natural fibers??
